Modesh Bakers
Modesh Bakers is a bakery founded by Moureen Odera, located in Manyatta, an informal settlement in Kisumu. Moureen saw an opportunity to launch a bakery, seeing as there were none around Manyatta, an area with a population over 42,000. Many residents wanted a way to celebrate occasions like weddings, baby-showers or birthdays, but going to town to purchase baked goods was time-consuming and costly. Through her bakery, Moureen addresses issues of unemployment in her area, training young women in baking skills and helping them gain employment.
