Modesh Bakers
Modesh Bakers, founded by Moureen, is a bakery in Manyatta, an informal settlement in Kisumu. Moureen saw an opportunity to launch a bakery, seeing as there were none around Manyatta, an area with a population over 42,000. Many residents wanted a way to celebrate occasions but going to town to purchase baked goods was time-consuming and costly. Moureen has now grown her product line to include products made from cricket and cassava flour, creating healthy and affordable alternatives. Through her bakery, Moureen addresses issues of unemployment in her area, training young women in baking skills and helping them gain employment.
